Tales of Woe

Sat Nov 21, 2009, 12:01 PM
Life has been rather sucky lately.
I’m pissed at everyone in my family and lately, art has been the only thing that can calm me down.
And that is why I was finally able to finish the Doctor Who shoes I started months ago.
Looking back, I’m really happy I dropped French and took Ceramics I instead.
It’s a much better fit for me because I’m not really used to working with clay so it’s a good experience for me.
It doesn’t hurt that the teacher loves me and basically lets me do whatever I want.
We’ve been working on coil pots in class this past week.
The teacher made everyone else paint theirs with only one or two colors.
I got to paint my rainbow, i.e. six colors (there was only violet, not indigo under glaze)
I love the class and am really happy to be taking two art classes this year but...

I got a B+ in Portfolio Prep. I know it’s not bad and usually, for any other class, I wouldn’t care.
But this is art: I have never received below an A- in an art class before.
And why did I received a B+?
Because for first term, all we did was charcoal drawings.
I hate charcoal.
I’m not comfortable with it. I don’t like using it. No matter how many times I use it, the drawings never come out well.
I put effort into the charcoal drawing, I didn’t do my homework during class like a lot of other kids, I actually did all the required assignments and then some. I did three times the amount of required drawings in out sketchbooks; I actually read the articles about visual art I picked out and the summaries proved it.
Yet I still received a B+, which is the same grade as two other girls in my class who didn’t even do the self-portrait or the portrait, WHICH I DID.

How on earth is that fair?

Yeah, I'm Acacia and I'm 16 (which is a square number so hopefully, it'll be a good year)
My art isn't anything amazing and I know it so yeah...
Anything else? Just ask, I don't bite...
Okay, well, yeah I do but I only bite people I'm close to. That, you can't ask about
